Sheppard Pratt is Hiring a Facility Manager (Towson) Near Towson, MD

As the Facility Manager, you will:

  • Lead in the direction of the day-to-day administration and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and the utilities/ mechanical trades for facilities on the Towson campus.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the electrical, mechanical, and plant physical equipment of the campus buildings and residences are continually operating and functioning, that the facilities are safe and in good repair, and that roads and grounds are in good condition.
  • Recommend system repairs or replacements and participate in the selection of outside contractors.
  • Develop and administer program budget(s).
  • Supervise the Towson campus Mechanical Supervisor, Carpentry Supervisor, and Lead Groundskeeper.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of licensing, regulatory, and accreditation bodies, including Joint Commission.
  • Provide back up and coverage for the Director of Plant Operations as needed.

Requires:

  • Broad knowledge of complex physical plant equipment and systems; facilities maintenance and management; preventative maintenance and work order request systems; leadership, communication and supervisory skills; building management and safety principles; knowledge of state and federal occupational safety regulatory and accreditation requirements; and budget development and monitoring, acquired through:
    • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering or related field plus 3-5 years of related experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role;
    • OR An AA degree in engineering or related field plus at least 5 years of related experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role ;
    • OR A high school diploma/GED plus at least 7 years of related experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, contractors, and state, local, and regulatory inspectors; supervise, train and motivate plant operations staff; to oversee the performance of service contractors; and to effectively coordinate work with other Health System departments.
  • Problem-solving skills sufficient to effectively coordinate, schedule, and supervise a wide variety of trades and services and to set priorities.
